Weather in Sweden

Most people think of winter when they hear of Sweden. But because of the warm Gulf Stream, the climate here can be much milder than you might expect. Spring, summer, fall and winter each have their own unique personalities.

In Götaland, where you’ll nd the city of Malmö, winters are shorter and milder, while daytime summer temperatures normally range from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. The air is relatively humid here, making warm days feel warmer and cold days colder. Days in Malmo during the summer are very long due to the latitude of the city, with 1st light appearing around 3 am and darkness falling before 11 pm, with light always visible in the northern skies. Coming in the summer can be great for this reason, staying out late and enjoying the “‘midnight” sun is a rare treat for most visitors.

Payments with VISA/Master Card credit cards are possible in most of the supermarkets, cafes, shops and restaurants. For the small local shops it’s always good to have some cash. The exchange oces are located in the banks and some big supermarkets. No passport is needed to exchange money.
